Faq for ZIV-AFLIBERCEPT - INJECTION
Ziv-Aflibercept is an injectable medication that is used for the treatment of various types of cancer, including colorectal cancer, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer.
Ziv-Aflibercept works by inhibiting the growth of new blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients to the cancer cells. This helps to slow down the growth and spread of the cancer.
Ziv-Aflibercept is administered through an injection into a vein (intravenous infusion) over a period of time as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
The common side effects of Ziv-Aflibercept include high blood pressure, headaches, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, and proteinuria (excess protein in the urine).
The frequency of Ziv-Aflibercept injections depends on the specific cancer being treated and the treatment plan determined by your healthcare provider. It is usually given every two weeks.
It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all other medications, supplements, or treatments you are taking before starting Ziv-Aflibercept. Some medications may interact with Ziv-Aflibercept and affect its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects.
The effectiveness of Ziv-Aflibercept varies depending on the individual and the type of cancer being treated. Your healthcare provider will monitor your progress through regular check-ups and imaging tests to determine the response to treatment.
Ziv-Aflibercept is not recommended for individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions to any of its ingredients. It should also be used with caution in patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, or recent surgery.
Ziv-Aflibercept may harm an unborn baby, so it is not recommended during pregnancy. It is also not known if Ziv-Aflibercept passes into breast milk, therefore, breastfeeding should be avoided while taking this medication.
