Uses

USES: This product is used to relieve symptoms of extra gas such as belching, bloating, and feelings of pressure/discomfort in the stomach/gut. Simethicone helps break up gas bubbles in the gut.


How to use SIMETHICONE - ORAL

HOW TO USE: Take this product by mouth, usually after meals and at bedtime or as directed by your doctor. Swallow the capsules whole. Do not crush or chew the capsules. Follow all directions on the product package. If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If you are self-treating with simethicone, the usual maximum amount for adults is 500 milligrams daily. If your condition persists or worsens, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.

Side Effects

SIDE EFFECTS: There are no reports of any side effects due to this medication. However, tell your doctor if you experience any unpleasant effects while taking this medication. A very serious allergic reaction to this product is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. Precautions

PRECAUTIONS: Before taking simethicone, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this medication. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Interactions

DRUG INTERACTIONS: If you are taking this product under your doctor's direction, your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first. Tell your doctor of any prescription or nonprescription medications you may take, including any antacids or digestive medications since some combination products may also contain simethicone. Simethicone can decrease the absorption of thyroid medications (such as levothyroxine). If you take thyroid medication, take it at least 4 hours before or after products that contain simethicone. Overdose
