Uses
USES: This medication is used along with other medications to control and prevent symptoms (such as wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma. Controlling symptoms of asthma helps you do your normal activities and decreases time lost from work or school. Reslizumab belongs to a class of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. It works by reducing swelling (inflammation) of the airways in the lungs to make breathing easier. This medication must be used regularly to be effective. It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks or breathing problems. If an asthma attack occurs, use your quick-relief inhaler as prescribed.
How to use RESLIZUMAB - INJECTION
HOW TO USE: Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start using reslizumab and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. This medication is given by injection into a vein as directed by your doctor, usually once every 4 weeks. It is given by a health care professional, usually over 20 to 50 minutes. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. If you are also using a corticosteroid medication, you should not stop using it unless directed by your doctor. Your condition may worsen or you may have withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop using the corticosteroid drug. To prevent withdrawal symptoms (such as weakness, weight loss, nausea, muscle pain, headache, tiredness, dizziness), your doctor may direct you to slowly lower the dose of your corticosteroid medication after you begin using this product. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details, and report any withdrawal reactions right away. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, mark your calendar when you need to receive it each month. Tell your doctor if your condition does not get better or if it gets worse.

Faq for RESLIZUMAB - INJECTION
Reslizumab injection is used to treat severe asthma in individuals aged 18 years and older who have an eosinophilic phenotype.
Reslizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits interleukin-5 (IL-5), a cytokine that plays a critical role in activating eosinophils. By blocking IL-5, reslizumab helps reduce eosinophil levels, resulting in improved asthma control.
Reslizumab is administered as a 3 mg/kg intravenous infusion over 20-50 minutes. It is typically given once every 4 weeks.
Common side effects may include an increase in the number of eosinophils, upper respiratory tract infections, worsening of asthma symptoms, headache, injection site reactions, and back pain.
Reslizumab may start working as early as the first dose, but it may take up to 4 weeks for some individuals to experience maximum benefit. It is important to continue using other asthma medications as prescribed by your doctor during this time.
The safety of reslizumab during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not well-established. It is recommended to discuss the potential risks and benefits with your healthcare provider before using this medication.
No significant drug interactions have been reported with reslizumab. However, it is important to inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products.
