Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor and works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.
How to use RAMIPRIL - ORAL
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. If you are taking the capsule form of ramipril, swallow it whole. Swallow or drink the whole mixture. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) each day. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. For the treatment of high blood pressure, it may take several weeks before you get the full benefit of this medication. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens (such as your blood pressure readings remain high or increase).

Faq for RAMIPRIL - ORAL
Ramipril is an oral medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. It is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and congestive heart failure. It may also be prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in patients with certain risk factors.
Ramipril works by relaxing the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more freely, which helps lower blood pressure. It also helps to reduce the strain on the heart in patients with heart failure.
The recommended dosage of Ramipril may vary depending on the individual's condition and response to treatment. However, the usual starting dose for treating high blood pressure is 2.5-5 mg once a day, which can be increased gradually if needed. For heart failure, the initial dose is usually 1.25 mg once a day, increasing to 2.5 mg after a few days.
Like any medication, Ramipril may cause side effects. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, cough, and upset stomach. It is important to contact a healthcare professional if any severe side effects occur, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or throat, or signs of allergic reactions.
Before taking Ramipril, it is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications, vitamins, and supplements you are currently taking. Certain medications, such as diuretics, other blood pressure medications, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), may interact with Ramipril and lead to harmful effects. It is necessary to consult your doctor or pharmacist to ensure safe concomitant use.
Ramipril can be taken with or without food. It is important to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or the product label. Taking Ramipril consistently at the same time each day can help improve its effectiveness.
The onset of action of Ramipril varies for different individuals. However, it may take about 1-2 weeks to see a noticeable improvement in blood pressure. For heart failure, it may take a few weeks to months to experience the full benefits of the medication.
