Faq for PERINDOPRIL/AMLODIPINE - ORAL

Perindopril/Amlodipine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is a combination medication that helps to relax blood vessels and improve blood flow.

Perindopril belongs to a class of drugs called ACE inhibitors, which work by blocking the enzyme that causes blood vessels to tighten. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels, allowing better blood flow.

Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, swelling in the ankles or feet, flushing, or a dry cough. If these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Perindopril/Amlodipine is not recommended during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding, as the medication can pass into breast milk and cause potential harm to the nursing infant. Consult your doctor for alternative options.

You should take Perindopril/Amlodipine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken once daily, with or without food. Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor, as suddenly stopping it may worsen your condition.

Drinking alcohol may increase the blood pressure-lowering effects of this medication and may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. It is recommended to limit alcohol consumption or avoid it entirely while on Perindopril/Amlodipine.

It is important to inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, as well as any herbal supplements. Some medications may interact with Perindopril/Amlodipine and affect its effectiveness or cause side effects.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

This varies from person to person. It may take a few weeks for Perindopril/Amlodipine to fully control your blood pressure. It is important to continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if you feel well.

Warning

WARNING: Perindopril (one of the ingredients in this product) can cause serious (possibly fatal) harm to an unborn baby if used during pregnancy. It is important to prevent pregnancy while taking this medication. Consult your doctor for more details and to discuss the use of reliable forms of birth control while taking this medication. If you are planning pregnancy, become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor right away.
