How to use OLMESARTAN - ORAL

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once daily with or without food. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. If you are using the liquid form of this medication, shake the bottle well before each dose. Carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens (for example, your blood pressure readings increase).

To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Olmesartan works by blocking the action of a substance called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to narrow. By blocking angiotensin II, olmesartan helps relax and widen the blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Common side effects of olmesartan may include dizziness, diarrhea, headache, back pain, and upper respiratory tract infections. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

No, olmesartan is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. It is important to discuss alternative medications with your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Certain medications may interact with olmesartan and affect its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects.

The full therapeutic effect of olmesartan may not be seen for several weeks. It is important to continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms.

No, olmesartan does not cause dependency or addiction. It is a medication used to manage high blood pressure and should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.

Olmesartan is generally not recommended for children under the age of 6. The safety and effectiveness of olmesartan in pediatric patients have not been established. Consult your child's doctor for appropriate treatment options.
