USES: Nicardipine is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Nicardipine is called a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Nicardipine is also used to prevent certain types of chest pain (angina). It may help to increase your ability to exercise and decrease the frequency of angina attacks. This medication must be taken regularly to be effective. It should not be used to treat attacks of chest pain when they occur. Use other medications (such as sublingual nitroglycerin) to relieve attacks of chest pain as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details.

Faq for NICARDIPINE CAPSULE - ORAL
Nicardipine capsule is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers, which work by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.
Nicardipine capsules are taken orally, usually 3 times a day, or as directed by your doctor. It is important to take the medication at the same times each day to maintain a consistent level in your body. Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional.
The common side effects of Nicardipine Capsule may include dizziness, headache, flushing, swelling of the ankles or feet, and constipation. If you experience any severe side effects such as chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention.
It is generally recommended to avoid consuming alcohol while taking Nicardipine Capsule. Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects and may worsen the blood pressure-lowering effects of the medication.
Nicardipine Capsule may interact with other medications, including certain antibiotics, antifungals, HIV medications, and other blood pressure-lowering drugs. It is crucial to inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking to avoid any potential interactions.
Nicardipine Capsule should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed, as it may harm the unborn baby. It is not recommended for use while breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk and harm the nursing infant. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Nicardipine Capsule can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with a meal may help reduce stomach upset. Follow your doctor's instructions on how to take it.
Nicardipine Capsule may start to lower blood pressure within a few hours of the first dose. However, it may take several weeks for the full benefits of the medication to be seen. It is important to continue taking it as prescribed, even if you feel well.
