Uses
USES: This drug is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. This lowers your chance of getting HIV complications (such as new infections, cancer) and improves your quality of life. Nelfinavir belongs to a class of drugs known as protease inhibitors. Nelfinavir is not a cure for HIV infection. To decrease your risk of spreading HIV disease to others, do all of the following: (1) continue to take all HIV medications exactly as prescribed by your doctor, (2) always use an effective barrier method (latex or polyurethane condoms/dental dams) during all sexual activity, and (3) do not share personal items (such as needles/syringes, toothbrushes, and razors) that may have contacted blood or other body fluids. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
How to use NELFINAVIR - ORAL
HOW TO USE: Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using nelfinavir and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Take this medication by mouth with a meal, usually 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by your doctor. If you are unable to swallow tablets, you may crush your dose and take it with food. The tablets may also be dissolved in a small amount of water. If dissolved in water, stir the mixture well and drink all of it right away. Rinse your container with more water and drink the rinse liquid to be sure you receive the entire dose. Do not mix with acidic food or juices (such as orange juice, apple juice/sauce) since this may make the medicine taste bitter. The dosage is based on your weight, liver function, medical condition, other medications, and response to treatment. For the best effect, take this medication at evenly spaced times. To help you remember, take this medication at the same times every day. It is very important to continue taking this medication (and other HIV medications) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop taking it (or other HIV medicines) even for a short time unless directed to do so by your doctor. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may cause the amount of virus to increase, make the infection more difficult to treat, or worsen side effects.

Faq for NELFINAVIR - ORAL
Nelfinavir is an antiviral medication used to treat HIV infection. It is specifically used in combination with other medications to control the progression of HIV and prevent the development of AIDS.
Nelfinavir belongs to a class of medications called protease inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called HIV protease, which is necessary for the virus to make new copies of itself. By blocking this enzyme, Nelfinavir helps reduce the amount of HIV in the body, slowing down the progression of the disease.
The common side effects of Nelfinavir may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, and skin rash. It is important to inform your healthcare provider if these side effects become severe or persistent.
Nelfinavir is usually taken orally with food. The exact dosing instructions will depend on your specific condition and other medications you may be taking. It is important to follow your healthcare provider's instructions and never exceed the recommended dosage.
Nelfinavir may interact with other medications, including certain antibiotics, antidepressants, antifungal drugs, and cholesterol-lowering medications. It is important to inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking to avoid any potential interactions.
Nelfinavir is not a cure for HIV infection. It is used to control the virus and prevent its progression in combination with other antiretroviral medications. It is essential to continue taking Nelfinavir as prescribed by your healthcare provider, even if you feel better.
Nelfinavir should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. It is advisable to keep it in the original container with the label intact. It should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
If you miss a dose of Nelfinavir, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult their healthcare provider before taking Nelfinavir. It is essential to weigh the potential benefits against the risks before using this medication during these periods.
