Faq for FOSTAMATINIB - ORAL

Fostamatinib is used to treat chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in patients who have not responded well to other treatments.

Fostamatinib works by blocking certain enzymes in the body that affect the production of platelets, thereby increasing platelet counts in patients with ITP.

Common side effects of Fostamatinib may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, high blood pressure, and increased liver enzymes.

Fostamatinib is usually taken twice a day, with or without food. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

Fostamatinib may interact with other medications, so it is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are currently taking. They can evaluate potential interactions and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

The effectiveness of Fostamatinib may vary from person to person. Some patients may start to see an improvement in their platelet counts within a few weeks, while for others, it may take longer.

Fostamatinib is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. It is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

If you miss a dose of Fostamatinib, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Fostamatinib has not been studied extensively in children, so its safety and efficacy in pediatric patients are not well-established. It is generally prescribed for adult patients with ITP.
