Faq for FOSNETUPITANT/PALONOSETRON - INJECTION
Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron injection is used in combination with other medications to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.
Fosnetupitant is a substance P/neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptor antagonist, and palonosetron is a selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Together, they work by blocking the signals in the brain that trigger nausea and vomiting.
Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron is administered as an intravenous (IV) injection by a healthcare professional.
Common side effects may include headache, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, and injection site reactions. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.
Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron should be used with caution in patients with liver impairments, as it can affect the elimination of some medications. It should also be avoided in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the components in the injection.
It is not recommended to use Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. It is also advised to consult with a healthcare professional before using this medication while breastfeeding.
Since Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron is typically administered by a healthcare professional as part of chemotherapy treatment, missing a dose is unlikely. However, if a dose is missed, promptly inform your healthcare provider.
Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron may interact with other medications, including certain antidepressants, HIV medications, and drugs that prolong the QT interval. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
Fosnetupitant/Palonosetron is typically administered as a single dose and can provide relief from chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting for up to 5 days.
