Faq for FLAXSEED (Linum usitatissimum) - ORAL

Flaxseed is the seed from the flax plant, scientifically known as Linum usitatissimum. It is commonly used for its nutritional and health benefits.

Flaxseed is rich in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and lignans. It also contains vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B1, magnesium, and manganese.

Flaxseed can be consumed in various forms, including whole flaxseed, ground flaxseed, flaxseed oil, or flaxseed supplements.

Consuming flaxseed may help lower cholesterol levels, improve cardiovascular health, regulate blood sugar levels, aid in digestion, and support weight management. Flaxseed also has anti-inflammatory properties and may have potential benefits for reducing the risk of certain cancers.

Flaxseed is generally safe for most individuals when consumed in moderate amounts. It is recommended to start with small quantities and gradually increase intake to avoid digestive discomfort. However, individuals taking certain medications or with specific medical conditions should consult their healthcare provider before consuming flaxseed.

The recommended daily intake of flaxseed for adults is around 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 grams). It is important to note that excessive intake may have adverse effects, so moderation is key.

Flaxseed may interact with certain medications, particularly blood thinners, anticoagulants, or hormonal therapies. It is important to consult a healthcare professional if you are taking any medications before adding flaxseed to your diet.

Flaxseed can be beneficial for weight loss due to its high fiber content, which promotes a feeling of fullness and aids in controlling appetite. It can be incorporated into a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle to support weight management.

Flaxseed is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when consumed in moderation. However, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider to ensure it complements the individual's specific needs.
