Faq for ERENUMAB-AOOE - SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTION

Erenumab-aooe is a medication given via subcutaneous injection that is used for the preventive treatment of migraine headaches in adults.

Erenumab-aooe works by blocking the activity of a specific protein called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which is involved in the transmission of pain signals in migraines.

Erenumab-aooe is self-administered at home using a pre-filled pen or pre-filled syringe. It is injected just under the skin (subcutaneous injection), typically once a month.

The most common side effects of erenumab-aooe include injection site reactions (such as pain, redness, and itching), constipation, and muscle cramps.

The safety of erenumab-aooe during pregnancy and breastfeeding is currently unknown. It is important to discuss with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Erenumab-aooe may start providing migraine prevention as early as the first month of treatment, but it can take up to three months to experience its full effect.

Erenumab-aooe can be used with other medications commonly prescribed for migraines, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and triptans. However, it is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid any potential drug interactions.

The coverage of erenumab-aooe by insurance plans may vary. It is recommended to check with your insurance provider to determine the specific coverage details and any associated out-of-pocket costs.

Erenumab-aooe's effects can last for approximately one month, which is why it is typically given once a month as a preventive treatment for migraines.
