COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Danocrine
GENERIC NAME(S): danazol
Uses
USES: This medication is used in women to treat pelvic pain and infertility due to a certain uterus disorder (endometriosis) and also to treat breast pain/tenderness/nodules due to a certain breast condition (fibrocystic breast disease). It is also used in both men and women to prevent swelling of the abdomen/arms/legs/face/airway due to a certain congenital disease (hereditary angioedema). Danazol is an androgen similar to testosterone. For the treatment of endometriosis and fibrocystic breast disease, it works by decreasing the amount of hormones made by the ovaries. These hormones usually make the conditions worse. For the treatment of angioedema, danazol helps to increase the amount of a certain protein in your body's defense system (immune system).

Faq for DANAZOL - ORAL
Danazol is an oral medication that is mainly used to treat endometriosis, a condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of it. It is also used to treat certain types of breast pain and swelling, as well as to prevent attacks of hereditary angioedema.
Danazol works by altering the levels of certain hormones in the body, such as estrogen and progesterone. It suppresses the release of hormones from the pituitary gland, which reduces the production of estrogen and progesterone. This helps to alleviate the symptoms associated with endometriosis and other conditions.
The most common side effects of Danazol include weight gain, acne, oily skin, hot flashes, changes in menstrual periods, voice deepening or hoarseness, headache, dizziness, and muscle or joint pain. These side effects are generally mild and temporary, but if they persist or worsen, it is important to inform your healthcare provider.
To take Danazol, follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Usually, it is taken orally with food or after meals to minimize stomach upset. It is important to take it at the same time each day and to not increase or decrease the dosage without consulting your doctor.
No, Danazol should not be used during pregnancy as it can harm the developing fetus. It is recommended to use effective birth control methods while taking Danazol to prevent pregnancy. If you become pregnant or plan to become pregnant while taking this medication, inform your doctor immediately.
Yes, Danazol may interact with certain medications, including blood thinners, insulin or oral diabetes medications, cyclosporine, and certain hormone replacement therapies. It is important to inform your doctor about all the medications and supplements you are taking before starting Danazol to avoid potential interactions.
The time it takes for Danazol to start working varies from person to person. Some people may experience relief from their symptoms within a few weeks, while for others, it may take longer. It is important to be patient and give the medication enough time to take effect.
