How to use CERITINIB - ORAL
HOW TO USE: Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking ceritinib and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The dosage recommendations and whether you take the medication with or without food are different according to the US and Canadian manufacturers. The US manufacturer recommends a lower dose to be taken with food. The Canadian manufacturer recommends a higher dose to be taken on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after eating any food. Since food affects how your body absorbs the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist about how you should take this medication and follow those instructions carefully. The dosage is based on your medical condition, laboratory tests, response to treatment, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). Drugs that reduce stomach acid (including antacids, proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole, H2 blockers such as ranitidine) may make you absorb less ceritinib. This could make ceritinib work less well. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of these medications. Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Do not increase your dose or use this drug more often or for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not improve any faster, and your risk of serious side effects will increase. Since this drug can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm an unborn baby, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle this medication or breathe the dust from the capsules.

Faq for CERITINIB - ORAL
Ceritinib is an oral medication used to treat a certain type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread to other parts of the body.
Ceritinib works by blocking the action of abnormal proteins that promote the growth of cancer cells. This helps to slow down or stop the growth of cancer cells, ultimately leading to the shrinkage of tumors.
The recommended starting dose of ceritinib is usually 450 mg taken once daily with food. However, the exact dosage may vary based on factors such as the individual's weight, overall health, and response to treatment. It is essential to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare professional.
If you miss a dose of ceritinib, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is less than 12 hours until your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Common side effects of ceritinib may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, decreased appetite, weight loss, and increased blood sugar levels. It is important to inform your doctor about any side effects you experience.
Yes, ceritinib can interact with several medications, including certain antibiotics, antifungal drugs, antidepressants, heart rhythm medicines, and HIV/AIDS medications. It is important to inform your healthcare professional about all the medications you take to avoid potential drug interactions.
The duration of ceritinib treatment may vary depending on the individual's response to the medication. Typically, treatment continues as long as the medication is effective in controlling the cancer's growth or until unacceptable side effects occur. Your doctor will monitor your progress and determine the appropriate duration of treatment.
Ceritinib may harm an unborn baby, and it is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is also not known if ceritinib passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding is not advised during treatment with this medication. Consult your doctor for more information and appropriate guidance.
Ceritinib may cause serious lung problems, liver problems, and heart rhythm changes. It is important to have regular check-ups and blood tests during treatment to monitor any potential complications. Inform your doctor if you have a history of lung or liver disease or any heart conditions.
