How to use AMLODIPINE/OLMESARTAN - ORAL

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. It may take up to 2 weeks before you get the full benefit of this drug. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens (your blood pressure readings remain high or increase).

If any of these effects persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: swelling hands/ankles/feet, fainting, fast heartbeat, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), symptoms of a high potassium blood level (such as muscle weakness, slow/irregular heartbeat), severe/persistent diarrhea. Get medical help right away if you experience: worsening chest pain, symptoms of a heart attack (such as chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating). A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Faq for AMLODIPINE/OLMESARTAN - ORAL

Amlodipine/Olmesartan is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure. It contains two active ingredients, amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) and olmesartan (an angiotensin II receptor blocker).

Amlodipine and olmesartan work together to relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Amlodipine blocks the entry of calcium into the smooth muscle cells of blood vessels, resulting in their relaxation. Olmesartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to narrow.

Common side effects of Amlodipine/Olmesartan may include dizziness, swelling of the ankles or feet, headache, flushing, and stomach pain. These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own.

Amlodipine/Olmesartan is usually taken once daily, with or without food. Follow the instructions provided by your doctor. It is important to take the medication regularly for it to be effective.

Amlodipine/Olmesartan should not be used during pregnancy, as it may harm the unborn baby. It is also important to inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, heart disease, or a history of angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue).

It is generally recommended to avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking Amlodipine/Olmesartan. Drinking alcohol may increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness or lightheadedness.

Amlodipine/Olmesartan is not recommended for use in children. The safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements. Some medications may interact with Amlodipine/Olmesartan, so it is important to check with a healthcare professional.

Warning

WARNING: This drug can cause serious (possibly fatal) harm to an unborn baby if used during pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to prevent pregnancy while taking this medication. Consult your doctor for more details and to discuss the use of reliable forms of birth control while taking this medication. If you are planning pregnancy, become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor right away.
